A return gift to repair oblivion. Made with water, earth, straw, grain and flour. A circle
When she was four years old, Laura Santos' family restored a dilapidated watermill. Thirty years later, Santos interviewed the woman who had ground grain there as a child. Thus began a three-year process of collecting memories of millers, shepherds and ranchers from the Barco-Piedrahíta-Gredos region of Ávila.
A wheel that turns is a tribute to anonymous lives and places. With humor, delicacy and a deep respect for the territory and its stories, this show builds a poetic circle not to be forgotten.

Meet the company
Almealera is an initiative of artistic creation with and from communities, with a special interest in rural environments. It was launched by Laura Santos in Navacepedilla de Corneja, a town in Avilés with forty inhabitants.
Through participatory processes with citizens, their projects are characterized by combining documentary theater with object theater, and give voice to stories and realities that are rarely represented. Their first show, Una rueda que da vueltas , received the FETEN award for Best Performer 2024 and has performed over a hundred times on tour. I was born in a bean furrow is their second show.
