This Sunday, April 19, the 37th edition of Mostra Igualada, the performing arts fair for all audiences, which was held from April 16 to 19, ended. With a diverse and transversal program, the Mostra has opted for proposals that combine scenic innovation, social commitment, and new artistic languages, with shows that dialogue with contemporary issues such as mental health, emotions, coexistence between generations, memory, or the relationship with the territory.
This year, the Mostra reached 14,600 spectators. Of these, 7,400 in indoor shows and 7,200 are in street shows. Indoor shows reached 73.6% occupancy, and street shows in shows with limited capacity reached 86.6% of occupancy. In total, 114 performances have been performed by 39 companies: 27 from Catalonia, 8 from the rest of the State and 4 international. Of these proposals, 2 have been absolute premieres, and 7 have arrived in Catalonia for the first time.
In this sense, Joan Arqué, artistic director of the Mostra, makes a very positive assessment of this edition and particularly highlights the response received: "The feedback we are receiving, both from citizens and professionals, is very positive and, to a large extent, above what we expected. It validates the idea of the project and the work done, and at the same time it sets us on the path to continue listening, refining and evolving the Mostra."
The 37th Mostra Igualada has brought together 1,034 professionals. The Mostra PRO Catalan Arts has brought together professionals from 417 entities, among which 345 have been Catalan, 44 from the rest of the State and 28 international professionals. Among the attendees, twenty professionals from Finland, Belgium, Turkey, the Netherlands, Canada, Portugal, Denmark, Lithuania, Italy, the United Kingdom, Ireland, China, France, Croatia, Germany and Mexico.
The epicenter of professional activity has once again been La Llotja, located in the Encavallades of the Museu de la Pell. From there, a dozen activities have been organized to promote contact between artists and programmers, consolidate the family programming of the country's facilities, and facilitate access to national and international circuits.
